About Me

Hi y’all!

My name is Nicole Fillman and I am thrilled that you’ve stopped by my lil neck of the ‘cyberspace’ woods!

I am an {EXTREMELY PROUD} Texas Longhorn! Hook Em’!! I graduated from The University of Texas with Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development with an EC-Fourth Grade Generalist certification. My minor was English as a Second Language (ESL).

I started out my teaching career in Kindergarten. I taught in the Texas public school system (Round Rock ISD). I was lucky enough to have had an amazing team that set the bar extremely high. Thank you Cindy, Melissa & Shelly for being such exemplar models of dedicated, caring teachers; miss y’all!

After moving to New Jersey, I began looking into the public school system but felt moved into another direction. I left my fate in His hands and took a HUGE leap of faith- I opened a preschool! I feel extremely blessed to have been able to open and run a successful business. My preschool program was for 3-5 year olds and had an academic focus which was meant to adequately prepare them for Kindergarten. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so thankful for all of the parents that believed in me when I was first getting started.Thank you Sara W. and Brandie M. for taking a chance on me; I couldn’t have done it without y’all’s belief in me and my program!

After moving to Las Vegas, NV, I was put in contact with a teacher that raved about the charter school system. After further research, I realized that charter schools truly are the way of the future. That same teacher recruited me to join her First Grade team and I was thrilled with the opportunity. Thank you Brooke J. for bringing me on board. I will be joining the Doral Academy of Nevada- Cactus Campus for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year!

My family of three is AMAZING and I feel blessed every day to have the BEST husband & dog-daughter! My husband is an Air Force pilot by day and tech genius by night. He has a Computer Science degree and I am constantly grateful that he {patiently} shares his computer expertise with me. Being an Air Force wife is exciting and always full of surprises. However, growing up as an Air Force brat and traveling around the world as a child, prepared me for this crazy, hectic, awesome journey as an Air Force spouse. Our dog-daughter, Maggie Mae, is the biggest blessing and we love her to death. She’s basically the cutest Yorkie around! 😉

color: PINK (the brighter & more obnoxious, the better)

drink: caramel iced coffee or sweet tea

food: breakfast tacos

animal: dog (Yorkie to be exact; totally not biased)

game: Settler of Catan & Apples to Apples

activity: spin class or spa day (or both, in that order)
